UK consumers spend more than £1 trillion each year on goods and services. Yet there are still significant gaps in consumer protection and empowerment, whilst Government funding for these areas has reduced.
Shifts in the consumer landscape have led to fewer consumer organisations and fewer resources. The main focus for Government-financed consumer work is the Consumer Protection Partnership (CPP Report 2016-2018) which prioritises the most detrimental of consumer issues.
The NCF plays a vital role in bringing consumers and their interests together to plug gaps in the consumer protection policy.
